Evaluation of Unit 1- Depict!

Throughout the filming and making of the depict short film assignment, I contributed during the pre-production process, filming and the editing process. To begin, I wrote the treatment as well as the shot list to get a brief idea of what are film was initially about. This helped the group and i to get an idea of what we needed- props, outfits and location and without doing this, we would be lost in what we were doing. During the filming stage, I was playing interviewer 'Anita Viewer'. we all worked as hard as possible to ensure everyone took turns either filming, holding the microphone or being in front of the camera. I was in charge of audio during some shots as I was not always in front of the camera. During the editing process, we all gathered around the computer and all were involved in the process. I synced clips with audio so that they matched perfectly as well as helping my group edit by giving input and cropping clips to the best length. We all worked together to make sure the film was the best it could be!

My group and I were all very proud of the outcome of our weeks of hard work. We went through some struggles, such as not saving the shots to the computer before saving onto the software used for editing which lead to some problems which we quickly resolved. In addition to this, a member of our group had the SD card and that was what the footage was on and as we did not save it all onto the computer we didn't have a copy of it. The member then became ill and we missed two lessons of editing due to this. We did resolve the issue and made sure to save everything to the computer. That was the only issue we suffered with during the editing process. The continuity during the film was aimed to be very comedic and not very professional. We aimed for it to be like a news broadcast so wanted it to appear as being very last minute yet make the audience aware that it is supposed to be that way.

We stuck to the shot list and storyboard very well. in total, we only missed one shot which was down to us feeling as though we didn't need it. We felt that we needed to stick to pre-production so that it can be ordered and not be messy. As our initial idea was fairly chaotic anyway, we made sure it stayed as simple as possible- which I believe we achieved very well. We changed location of one of our shots as we could not use the cafeteria due to it being closed. Besides not being able to use the cafeteria and not filming an un-needed scene, we didn't run into any other issues with following our pre-production work. Editing had some issues-mentioned above yet they were all taken care of and all was well.
